Wales international Gareth Bale has signed a new six-year contract at Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old arrived at the Bernabeu from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013 and has scored 62 times in 134 appearances for the Spanish giants, winning two Champions League titles in the process.

Manchester United have consistently been linked with a move for the Welshman during his time in Spain, but Real Madrid have announced that a fresh contract that will run until the summer of 2022 has now been signed.

"Real Madrid and Gareth Bale have agreed an extension to the player's contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2022," read a statement from the Spanish giants. "Tomorrow, Monday at 1.30pm, Gareth Bale will appear at a press conference in the media room at the Santiago Bernabeu."

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to soon follow Bale in signing a new long-term contract at the Bernabeu.
