Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos says that his side "redeemed themselves" with an aggregate knockout victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has said that his side "redeemed themselves" with an aggregate knockout victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Los Blancos have stalled in La Liga this term and sit 15 points behind leaders Barcelona, but Zinedine Zidane's team returned to the European stage by booking their spot in the last eight of the competition.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro scored goals in a win which was "never comfortable", according to Spanish international Ramos.

"The truth is that I'm very happy with the work of the team," the 31-year-old told reporters. "We knew it would be the perfect occasion for us to redeem ourselves in our favourite competition, and we imposed ourselves, enjoying our football again and recovering the morale that let us enjoy so much.

"Comfortable progress? It's never comfortable, even if it seemed that way. We needed to apply lot of intensity and physical effort. We knew that we couldn't get too comfortable, even if we were ahead on the scoreboard."

Real Madrid's next game is against Eibar in the league on Saturday.
