Former Aston Villa and Chesterfield midfielder Chris Herd seals a switch to Australian side Perth Glory.

Perth Glory have secured the services of Chris Herd for the 2016-17 A-League campaign.

The midfielder, who made 42 appearances for Aston Villa, spent much of the ongoing season with League One outfit Chesterfield.

However, having been released by the Spireites, the 27-year-old from Melbourne has now decided to return to his homeland.

"Pulling on the purple for Perth Glory has been something I've contemplated for a while and I'm keen and excited to be part of a club that is definitely on the way up. This is the right move for me, my football and my family," he told the club's official website.

Herd has been capped on three occasions by Australia at senior international level.
