Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is reportedly hoping to complete a summer move to Manchester United in the coming days.

Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane is reportedly hoping to complete a summer move to Manchester United in the coming days.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the 28-year-old as his primary defensive target and talks between both clubs are progressing well.

Varane is currently on holiday with his family following his participation with France at Euro 2020, but according to AS, the defender would prefer to complete a transfer to United in the coming days and fly over to Manchester, instead of returning to Madrid for their pre-season training camp.

Real are looking to sell Varane this summer as he has just one year remaining on his contract, and there have been no indications to suggest the defender wishes to extend his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Both parties are not in a hurry to finalise the deal, though United may feel obliged to get this transfer over the line quickly to satisfy the Frenchman.

Varane has spent 10 years at Real Madrid, recording 360 appearances and winning 18 major trophies, including four Champions League titles.
