Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Southampton

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's EFL Cup tie with Southampton.

Manchester City head into Tuesday's EFL Cup encounter with Southampton having put together a three-match winning streak since the international break.

After getting the better of Crystal Palace and Atalanta BC, City recorded a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

However, Pep Guardiola still has a number of players on the sidelines in the middle of a hectic period of the campaign.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of welcoming the Saints to the Etihad Stadium.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Having suffered a serious knee injury in August, Sane is not expected back until 2020. However, the club's medical staff are said to be optimistic that the winger will return earlier than initially predicted.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

The defender picked up a similar injury to Sane prior to the September international break. The centre-back is unlikely to be back in contention until February at the earliest.

Rodri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Chelsea (November 23)

Rodri sustained a thigh injury during the first half of the Champions League meeting with Atalanta. While Guardiola had initially hoped that the Spaniard would be ready to return for the match with Liverpool on November 10, the City boss has since revealed that the midfielder will not feature until after the international break.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Having recently sustained a knee problem, Zinchenko underwent what has been described as a 'clean-up operation' last week. The Ukrainian should return at some point in December.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Fernandinho will sit out Tuesday's fixture after being dismissed for two yellow cards against Aston Villa.
