How Manchester City could line up against Liverpool

Ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield, Sports Mole looks at how the visitors could set up.

Manchester City will be hoping to right some wrongs when they take on Liverpool at Anfield in the pick of this weekend's Premier League fixtures.

The Citizens have already lost three games against the Reds this calendar year and are without a win at this ground in 17 attempts.

Pep Guardiola's men make this latest trip to Merseyside in good form, however, having won six and drawn one of their league games this term to find themselves top of the pile, level on points with their opponents.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Guardiola may set out his side to finally get one over on the Reds.

Possible MNC XI vs. LIV

Out: Eliaquim Mangala (knee), Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Fabian Delph (knock)
Doubtful: Kevin De Bruyne (knee), Benjamin Mendy (foot), Ilkay Gundogan (hamstring)

Guardiola has a big decision to make with regards to which formation he goes with at Anfield - three at the back or four.

The availability of Mendy, who has returned to training this week, may well play a deciding factor in that decision, but the French full-back will be some way short of full fitness.

Oleksandr Zinchenko may therefore be required on his return from injury to fill in at the back, meaning that Guardiola can field an extra central midfielder.

The Catalan coach is also blessed with options in his forward line, but he may well stick with the same trio from the 2-1 win at Hoffenheim in midweek, as Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero - without a goal in nine attempts at Anfield - are all in good form.
