Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater says that he would like to sign a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has said that he wants to commit his future to the Foxes.

Drinkwater played a key role in the club's Premier League title triumph last season but the England international is yet to open talks over a new deal, despite having just two years left on his contract.

However, the former Manchester United trainee has insisted that he will not demand talks with the Leicester hierarchy and is keen to focus his attentions on the new campaign.

The 26-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I am not going chasing the club. It is up to them to approach me. I would love to commit but I just want to play football.

"I still have two years left on my contract so it is not a be all and end all if I don't sign a new one in the next few weeks.

"I'm still under contract so I can't really say too much but I'm a Leicester City player at the minute. It's up to them how they handle it."

Drinkwater has made 175 appearances for the East Midlands side since joining in January 2012.
