Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara eyes Celtic scalp

The Taysiders prop up the Ladbrokes Premiership table.

Glen Kamara believes struggling Dundee can upset the odds and beat Celtic at Dens Park on Wednesday night.

The Taysiders are bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership and have lost their last six home games, while the first two matches under new boss Jim McIntyre ended in a 4-0 defeat at Livingston and a 3-0 loss at home to leaders Hearts.

By contrast the champions are building up a head of steam domestically and booked their place in the Betfred Cup final against Aberdeen with a convincing 3-0 win over Hearts at BT Murrayfield on Sunday.

However, Kamara believes Dundee can get what would be a shock result against Brendan Rodgers’ men.

The 22-year-old Finland midfielder said: “Yeah I do. We have a good bunch of boys in there and if everyone pulls together, and we get firing, I think we can do it.

“Celtic is a tough game. We probably know what to expect already and hopefully we can get a result at home.

“We just need to do the right things on the pitch, working hard and working as a team as well so hopefully we can do that.”

Kamara, who refused to discuss his future with his contract ending at the end of the season – “my focus is on Dundee” – revealed hard work is underpinning McIntyre’s early days at Dens Park.

“Hard work, really hard work,” said the former Arsenal player.

“(He is) pushing the boys to work even harder in training and cutting out any slackness, which is good.

“Things are going well. Probably results don’t show that but training has been good.

“We need to work hard and bed in what the manager wants us to do on the pitch and hopefully we can kick on from there.

“He has a different way of playing so obviously it is going to take a little bit more time so hopefully we can do it as soon as possible.”
