How Chelsea could line up against Brighton & Hove Albion

Ahead of the Premier League game between Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea on New Year's Day, Sports Mole looks at how the visitors could line up at the Amex Stadium.

Chelsea take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on New Year's Day looking to strengthen their hold of fourth position in the Premier League standings.

On Sunday, the Blues overturned a deficit to register a 2-1 victory at Arsenal - a result which has opened up a four-point advantage over the chasing pack.

However, Frank Lampard has a number of injury issues to contend with ahead of the visit to the Amex Stadium, potentially influencing his selection of formation and personnel.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how the West Londoners could line up for the visit to the south coast.

Having impressed after his introduction at the Emirates Stadium, Jorginho is a likely starter, potentially in a midfield three alongside N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.

That selection would leave Lampard to drop one of his three centre-backs, with Fikayo Tomori expected to miss out rather than Antonio Rudiger or Kurt Zouma.

While Lampard may prefer to rest Cesar Azpilicueta, the Spaniard and Emerson Palmieri should take on the full-back roles due to minor injuries to Reece James and Marcos Alonso.

Further forward, Callum Hudson-Odoi is pushing for a recall to the starting lineup after making an impact from the bench against the Gunners.

Mason Mount could be the player to drop out, although Lampard may take Willian's recent game time into consideration when choosing his team.

Christian Pulisic is likely to be selected among the replacements at best due to a tight hamstring.
