Luis Felipe Scolari emerges as the reported favourite to take over as the new boss of Brazil.

Former Selecao boss Luis Felipe Scolari is reportedly the favourite to take over as the new manager of Brazil.

The 64-year-old won the 2002 World Cup during his last spell with his home nation and according to reports in Brazil, he will be offered the post vacated by Mano Menezes last week.

It had also been speculated that former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola was in the running, but the head of the Brazil Football Association Jose Marin has quelled such claims.

"I find it hard [to believe] that Brazil's next coach will be foreign. I have the greatest respect for Guardiola, but Brazil has won all of its five World Cups with Brazilian coaches," Marin told Terra.

Scolari has also managed Chelsea and Portugal in recent seasons.
