President Josep Maria Bartomeu reportedly fails with his attempt to get Barcelona's first-team squad to take a pay cut.

Barcelona's first-team squad have reportedly rejected a request for them to take a pay cut for the foreseeable future.

Throughout the summer transfer window, it was well documented that the Catalan giants must sell players before being able to make their own additions.

Although some business was conducted until the beginning of this month, the La Liga outfit failed to get a deal over the line for Lyon forward Memphis Depay.

During a period of financial uncertainty largely brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, president Josep Maria Bartomeu has asked senior players to take a drop in wages.

However, according to RAC 1, Bartomeu was formally notified on Friday that his request for a 30% reduction had been dismissed.

Barcelona's players have also rejected the opportunity to extend the negotiating period by a number of weeks.
