IPC names nominees for 2015 Paralympic Sport Awards

The International Paralympic Committee announces the Sochi 2014 nominees for the 2015 Paralympic Sport Awards.

The International Paralympic Committee has announced the nominees for the 2015 Paralympic Sport Awards.

Competitors who performed at the Sochi Paralympics last year will be recognised at the ceremony.

The 12 nominees clinched 25 gold medals between them in Sochi, and one winner will be chosen from each category, including Best Female, Best Male, Best Debut and Best Team.

The ceremony, which will be held in Mexico City on Saturday, November 14, will also include the award for Best Official.

France's Marie Bochet, Mikhalina Lysova of Russia and Germany's Anna Schaffelhuber are in the running to take home Best Female, while Toby Kane of Australia, Canadian cross-country skier Brian McKeever and Russia's Roman Petushkov are the nominees for Best Male.

Alexey Bugaev, Mac Marcoux and Bibian Mentel-Spee are in contention for the Best Games Debut award, while the team gong will be awarded to either the Canada wheelchair curling team, Sweden Nordic relay or USA ice sledge hockey.

During the ceremony, the BP Courage award will be given to one IPC member.
