Augsburg defender Ragnar Klavan is reportedly undergoing a medical ahead of his proposed move to Liverpool.

The 30-year-old has been earmarked as cover for Liverpool's defensive options at the start of the season, with Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez both having been ruled out through injuries.

Tiago Ilori is also due to play for Portugal at the Olympics, leaving Dejan Lovren and new signing Joel Matip as the only recognised specialist centre-backs in the squad.

Klavan, who has more than 100 caps for Estonia, is expected to complete his £4.2m switch from Augsburg on Wednesday.

Klavan will become Liverpool's fifth signing of the summer after Matip, Sadio Mane, Loris Karius and Marko Grujic.
