Former England captain John Terry is reportedly ready to come out of international retirement ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Chelsea defender quit the national side in September, claiming that his position had become "untenable" as the Football Association opened disciplinary proceedings against him for racially abusing Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand in October 2011.

The 32-year-old was cleared of the racially aggravated public order offence by Westminster Magistrates' Court after Euro 2012, but was later found guilty by the FA in their own investigation.

Terry now wants to make himself available for international selection again with a view to going to next year's World Cup finals, according to The Guardian.

The centre-back had won 78 caps for his country before cutting short his international career.
