Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hails the spirit of his troops to put their domestic woes to one side and beat Borussia Dortmund.

Arsene Wenger has hailed Arsenal's character after bouncing back from Saturday's defeat by Manchester United to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 last night.

The Gunners welcomed the German giants to the Emirates Stadium five days after losing 2-1 to United, which confirmed their worst start to a league season for 32 years.

However, goals from Yaya Sanogo and Alexis Sanchez ended Arsenal's three-game winless streak as Wenger's side qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League for the 11th straight season.

"When you work in a football club you realise it's not easy to be consistent, so I'm very proud of the qualification record," he told UEFA.com.

"This team has a top-quality attitude and we have shown that today, after the disappointment of Saturday. What is important is what we do inside the club."

The North Londoners remain second in Group D, two points behind Dortmund ahead of the sixth and final group game next month.
