Result: Dan Evans through to second round of Loughborough Challenger

Dan Evans wins his first main-draw match since returning from a drugs ban, beating second seed Max Purcell in the first round of the Loughborough Challenger.

Dan Evans has reached the last 16 of the Loughborough Challenger with a straight-sets win over second seed Max Purcell.

The former British number two has recently returned from a drugs ban and currently sits outside of the top 1,000 in the world rankings.

However, after coming through three qualifying rounds to make the main draw, Evans has earned more valuable ranking points with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Purcell.

Evans recorded three breaks of serve against the world number 218 - without losing a game behind his own delivery - and the 27-year-old's progress was wrapped up in 65 minutes.

The Birmingham-based player - who will move well inside the top 900 in the ATP standings next week - will play either Jurij Rodionov or Luke Bambridge in the second round.
