Saracens chief executive Ed Griffiths wants any potential deal between head coach Andy Farrell and England to be resolved as soon as possible.

Saracens chief executive Ed Griffiths has revealed that he is eager for any deal for head coach Andy Farrell to be done sooner rather than later.

Farrell was part of England's backroom staff during the recent Six Nations campaign and new boss Stuart Lancaster is keen for the former rugby league star to become a permanent member of his management team.

Farrell still has two years left on his contract with Saracens but is expected to accept the RFU's offer, and Griffiths is eager to avoid any uncertainty at the club.

"We would like to [resolve it] because we don't want any 'will he? won't he?' distractions going through the Clermont week," Griffiths said.

"It is like any kind of discussions. You would like an early settlement but we will see. We will have more discussions this week.

"It is not very complicated to work out what the discussions are about but the default position is that he is the head coach of Saracens. That is the default position if the discussions are not successful."

Saracens currently sit second in the Aviva Premiership following their 24-19 loss against first-placed Harlequins.
