Controlled explosion near women's marathon route

Brazilian authorities carry out a controlled explosion near to the route of the women's marathon.

An anti-bomb squad have carried out a controlled explosion close to the media centre being used for sailing at the Rio Olympics.

BBC Sport reports that a suspicious package was found on the road, close to the Marina da Gloria venue.

Earlier, the same road was used as part of the route for the women's marathon, which was won by Kenya's Jemima Sumgong.

It follows a controlled explosion which was carried out next to the route of the men's road race cycling last Saturday.
