Madrid City Council reportedly give Real Madrid permission to start £500m redevelopment work on the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have reportedly been given permission by Madrid City Council to begin redeveloping their Bernabeu home.

The Spanish giants unveiled makeover plans four-and-a-half years ago, but red tape has delayed work.

According to Spanish daily AS, however, Real have finally been given the green light to knock down a nearby shopping centre and begin work on the famous stadium.

Los Blancos initially planned to complete the £500m project by October 2022, but that will now likely be pushed back by a further couple of years.

The capacity will not alter drastically, but the ground will include a retractable roof, and a new 360-degree video screen will also be installed.
