The Premier League is reportedly prepared to sell its remaining allocation of 40 games for TV broadcast "on the cheap" after receiving lukewarm interest from broadcasters.
In February, it was announced that Sky Sports and BT Sport had kept hold of the rights to a combined 160 games a season, albeit for around £600m less than under the current deal.
The Premier League had also announced that it was making 40 more games available - scheduled on bank holidays and in midweek - with the possibility that multiple games could be shown simultaneously.
Neither Sky nor BT was seriously interested in the prospect, however, and the games remained up for sale as the Premier League looked to entice web streaming services to submit bids.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League has now resigned itself to selling the games for "minimal money" and is close to agreeing a deal with an unnamed provider.
Among those thought to have been interested are Amazon, Facebook, Netflix and new service Eleven Sports, which has already poached the UK rights to La Liga from Sky.
