Former Argentina international Diego Maradona meets fellow Argentine Pope Francis during a visit to Rome.

Former Argentina international and coach Diego Maradona has met compatriot Pope Francis in Rome.

The 53-year-old was in Italy for a charity match when he was invited to meet with the head of the Catholic Church.

The 1986 World Cup winner celebrated with a fistpump after meeting the Pope:


Maradona earned 91 caps for his country between 1977 and 1994.
