West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini says that Andriy Yarmolenko needs to improve, despite the Ukrainian netting twice in the 3-1 win at Everton.

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that Andriy Yarmolenko "needs more work", despite the attacker netting his first two goals for the club against Everton.

Yarmolenko has found himself in and out of the side since moving to the London Stadium in the summer, but the Ukraine international netted twice as West Ham registered a 3-1 win at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Pellegrini has claimed that the former Borussia Dortmund man was not ready to feature in the top flight at the start of the season, but that he had been left encouraged by the performance of the new arrival on Merseyside.

The 65-year-old is quoted by Football.london as saying: "I know what the Premier League is and Andriy didn't arrive here ready to play in the Premier League. He has a lot of quality, he has demonstrated that but he needs more work.

"We preferred to work with him a couple of weeks and when I saw he was ready, he needed to demonstrate his quality. I think that today he did that."

West Ham now sit in 16th place in the Premier League table.
