Mark Hughes is left to bemoan his Stoke City side's "poor" display following their 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Mark Hughes has conceded that his Stoke City side produced a "poor" performance during their home clash with title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur this evening.

Braces from Harry Kane and Dele Alli wrapped up a 4-0 victory for the visitors from North London, who spurned numerous chances to win by an even greater margin.

"Don't underestimate the quality of Spurs but we were poor. We didn't do the things we talked about before the game," Hughes told Sky Sports News.

"We had a go in the second half but that played into their hands and they picked us off. We didn't deal with them at all. We couldn't get close to them."

The result has left the Potters ninth in the Premier League ahead of Saturday's trip to Manchester City.
