A report claims that Crystal Palace and Stoke City may battle it out for the signing of Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur outcast Kevin Wimmer is a transfer target for Premier League pair Crystal Palace and Stoke City, according to a report.

The 24-year-old will likely get his wish to leave North London should Spurs bring in central-defensive cover in the remaining two weeks of the transfer window.

Austria international Wimmer has made clear that he wants to remain in the English top flight, having already been linked with a switch to Southampton this summer as a potential like-for-like replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Palace and Stoke are also in the hunt to land the former FC Koln man's signature, with The Sun reporting that he will soon be available to purchase for around £20m.

Wimmer joined Tottenham from Koln in 2015 but has struggled to oust Thomas Vermaelen and Toby Alderweireld at the back.
