Inter Milan chief hints at Christian Eriksen stay amid Tottenham Hotspur links

Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta suggests that Christian Eriksen will remain at San Siro for the rest of the season.

Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has suggested that Christian Eriksen will see out the season at San Siro.

Eriksen has failed to make a sustained impact at Inter since leaving Tottenham Hotspur 12 months ago, resulting in speculation regarding a return to North London in January.

However, despite the Denmark international being made available for transfer earlier this month, Marotta says that the 28-year-old will remain with his current club.

Speaking to DAZN, Marotta said: "As Antonio Conte said, if there are some players who are unhappy and want to find other clubs, it's not right to withhold them.

"We do not have any of those situations. Therefore, this is the squad we will have at our disposal until the end of the season.

"When you're in a big club, there are no starting players or deputies. There are just professionals who must answer to the coach and his decisions. A player can play less than one of his teammates but still manage to be more influential."

Eriksen has enjoyed a better week at Inter, scoring the winner in the Coppa Italia tie with AC Milan on Wednesday before playing the full 90 minutes against Benevento four days later.
