How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Sunday's Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

Tottenham Hotspur will renew their search for an elusive Premier League victory when they visit Merseyside for the second successive weekend to take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Last week's 2-1 defeat at Liverpool leaves Spurs with just two league wins from their last nine games and, with the gap to the top four already eight points, they know that they cannot afford too many more setbacks.

Tottenham will come up against an Everton team enduring a disappointing season of their own, with five defeats from their last six league games leaving them only two points clear of the relegation zone.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Mauricio Pochettino could set his side out for the contest.

Tottenham will hand a late fitness test to Jan Vertonghen to determine whether he has recovered from the hamstring injury which kept him out of the starting lineup against Liverpool last weekend.

Should the Belgian be fit then Pochettino may consider a switch to three at the back again, but if not then it is unlikely that there will be too many changes from the trip to Anfield.

One enforced change sees Danny Rose miss out through suspension, with Ben Davies expected to replace him at left-back after Pochettino revealed that Ryan Sessegnon is still not ready to play 90 minutes.

Hugo Lloris and Erik Lamela are Tottenham's two other absentees, the latter giving Dele Alli a chance to stake his claim for a regular starting role again having struggled to get into the team during the opening weeks of the season.

The likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Lucas Moura and Giovani Lo Celso will be hopeful of a recall to the starting lineup, but they could all once again be forced to settle for a place on the bench.
