Cesc Fabregas says that he turned down the chance to join Real Madrid on more than one occasion during his time with Arsenal.

Experienced midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he turn down the chance to join Real Madrid on more than one occasion during his time with Arsenal.

The 32-year-old, who joined Monaco from Chelsea in January, left Barcelona to move to Arsenal at the age of 16 and went on to make over 300 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.

Fabregas has claimed that Madrid 'called more than once or twice' during his time with the English club, but the Spaniard wanted to remain loyal to Arsene Wenger for showing faith in him.

"Real Madrid] called me more than once or twice," Fabregas told AS. "The first time I was very young. I was 18 and they offered me a big salary, but I felt like I belonged at Arsenal. Wenger had bet the farm on me. I couldn't leave. In any case, I'll always be grateful to Madrid for the way they treated me."

Fabregas ultimately returned to Barca in the summer of 2011, making 151 appearances for the Catalan giants before moving back to England to join Chelsea.
