The last of the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals pitted Netherlands against Costa Rica on Saturday evening.
The Dutch had the best of the chances in the first 45 minutes, but could not find a way past Costa Rica's Keylor Navas.
It was more of the same in the second period, with Netherlands missing a host of chances as the match headed for extra-time, which also finished goalless.
As a result, penalties were to decide the match and it was Netherlands that came through on spot-kicks after Costa Rica missed two in the shootout.
