A report claims that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently on the sidelines with a knee injury, could still sign a fresh short-term deal with Manchester United.

Experienced forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic could reportedly still sign a fresh short-term deal with Manchester United.

The 35-year-old scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for Man United during the 2016-17 campaign, but he missed the final stages of the season after picking up a serious knee injury, which required surgery.

The Red Devils have opted against renewing the striker's contract for a further 12 months, although the Swede will continue his rehabilitation with the English outfit ahead of a return at the start of 2018.

Ibrahimovic has been linked with a return to Serie A in 2018, while Atletico Madrid, in addition to a number of MLS clubs, are said to be interested in signing the experienced centre-forward in the second half of next season.

However, according to The Mirror, Ibrahimovic could turn out in a Man United shirt once again, with head coach Jose Mourinho prepared to consider a fresh deal if the Swede makes a full recovery from his knee problem.

Man United are expected to officially complete the signing of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku before the start of next week.
