Former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole has claimed that Marcus Rashford has the quality to become a global star.

The 19-year-old scored the winner for England in their World Cup qualifier against Slovakia at Wembley Stadium on Monday night.

Rashford, whose strike helped seal a crucial 2-1 win, was widely praised for his performance, particularly his strength of character after he was at fault for Slovakia's early goal.

Cole is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "He's a young man, he's hungry, he's got loads of desire and passion.

"What I like about him is that he plays every game like it's his last. If he continues to improve with the players he's got around him he could be a world beater, he's definitely got the quality.

"His attitude is bang on, he works hard and wants to improve. I was listening to him last season talking about how much he was watching Wayne [Rooney] and Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] and how much he learns off those guys. He's taking it all on board and taking it in his stride."

Despite his young age, Rashford has already made 75 senior appearances for United, scoring 20 times.
