Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester United

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's EFL Cup semi-final against Manchester United

Manchester City welcome neighbours Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final.

The game marks City's fifth in the space of 12 days - a schedule which has led to Pep Guardiola making frequent changes to his starting lineup.

The Premier League giants warmed up for this contest with a 4-1 victory over Port Vale in the FA Cup third round on Saturday evening.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the meeting with their fierce rivals.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Sane has been on the sidelines since injuring knee ligaments against Liverpool in the Community Shield back in August. While there has been no recent update, the winger is not expected back until February.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

City were given a boost just before the turn of the year as Laporte returned to the training pitch after four months out with a serious knee injury. However, it appears unlikely that the centre-back will return before the end of the month.

Ederson

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Man United)

Ederson has missed the last three games through a combination of suspension, illness and being rested. However, the Brazilian is expected to be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday evening.

Nicolas Otamendi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Man United)

Otamendi missed out against Everton and Port Vale due to injury. However, Guardiola has suggested that the centre-back will be in contention for this week's games with United and Aston Villa.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

City have no suspension issues heading into this match.
