Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for Wednesday's Europa League final with Villarreal.

Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire is facing a race against time to be fit for Wednesday's Europa League final with Villarreal.

The England international is yet to fully recover from an ankle problem, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered less-than-positive updates on his availability for the trip to Gdansk, so he would surely be named on the bench even if he is passed fit.

The Red Devils are still without Maguire's compatriot Phil Jones - who was rumoured to have been in contention to feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend - while Anthony Martial is not ready to return from his own serious knee injury.

With Dean Henderson coming under fire recently and playing the full 90 at Molineux on Sunday, Solskjaer is expected to reinstate David de Gea as the last line of defence this week.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are both well-rested so will replace Brandon Williams and Alex Telles here, while Victor Lindelof should partner Eric Bailly in defence if Maguire does miss out.

Fred and Scott McTominay are expected to partner up in the middle - assuming the former battles back from a minor knock in time - and Solskjaer will recall four big-hitters to the final third.

Amad Diallo and Anthony Elanga both enjoyed some much-needed Premier League game time at Molineux, and the latter's bullet header broke the deadlock on the day, but Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are set for recalls out wide.

The effervescent Bruno Fernandes will demote Juan Mata down to the bench, and with Edinson Cavani averaging a goal or assist every 35 minutes in the Europa League this term, the South American ought to edge out Mason Greenwood for a start up front.

Man United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Rashford, Fernandes, Pogba; Cavani
