Kevin De Bruyne: 'No plans to leave Manchester City'

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne insists that he has given no thought to leaving the club in the near future.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that he has given no thought to leaving the club and has settled into life in Manchester.

The 25-year-old, who recently announced his engagement to girlfriend Michelle Lacroix, moved to the Citizens in August 2015 on a six-year deal for a club-record £55m.

A recent report from the Football Leaks website revealed alleged details of De Bruyne's contract, with his weekly wage of £115,000 dwarfed by the likes of Sergio Aguero (£220,000), Yaya Toure (£220,000), Raheem Sterling (£180,000) and David Silva (£160,000).

The story led to speculation that rival clubs could tempt De Bruyne with a higher wage offer, but the Belgian insists that he is not even considering leaving Pep Guardiola's side.

"I'm really enjoying my football here and my family is happy," he told Sky Sports News. "That is the important thing. I have four-and-a-half years on my contract and I'm not busy thinking about anything else."

De Bruyne also said that he remains optimistic about his side's title chances this term, despite falling seven points behind league leaders Chelsea in recent weeks.

"We are a team who can win any game," he added. "Even before the Barcelona game (a 3-1 Champions League victory in November) we knew that. But it's not about high points now, it's about high points at the end of the season. But to be there in the spring we need to maintain our high level throughout.

"We are still in the three competitions so we'll see what we can do but the aim is to be on top in everything. Fortunately, there are class players here so the coach has a lot of choices to swap. In a season here where you can play 60 games that's obviously necessary."

De Bruyne is currently the Premier League's top assister, setting up eight goals - as well as scoring two - in 13 appearances.
