Benjamin Mendy has been left out of the AS Monaco squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Sporting Lisbon amid suggestions that the full-back is close to a move to Manchester City.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with City over the last couple of weeks, although it is understood that the Premier League outfit are currently not prepared to meet Monaco's £50m asking price.

Mendy hinted that he would be leaving Monaco this summer with a post on his Instagram account last week.

The France international joined Monaco from Marseille in last summer's transfer window, and the defender made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions during the 2016-17 campaign.

However, he has not yet featured for Monaco during pre-season, and will play no part against Sporting this weekend.

Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe have both made the 23-man squad despite speculation surrounding their future.
