How Manchester City could line up against West Ham United

Ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture between Manchester City and West Ham United, Sports Mole looks at how Pep Guardiola's side could line up against the Hammers.

Manchester City take on West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon with the chance to move five points clear of third-placed Leicester City.

After last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur left City 22 points adrift of leaders Liverpool, Pep Guardiola is now focused on ensuring that the defending champions do not finish lower than second position.

However, the Spaniard has plenty of selection dilemmas ahead of welcoming the Hammers for what is City's last fixture for almost two weeks.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how the North-West outfit could line up at the Etihad Stadium.

With Raheem Sterling ruled out with a hamstring injury, Riyad Mahrez may switch to the left flank, allowing Bernardo Silva to feature on the right.

Despite failing to score against Manchester United and Spurs, Sergio Aguero is likely to retain his place in attack ahead of Gabriel Jesus.

Guardiola may look to start either David Silva or Phil Foden, with the latter potentially getting the nod having previously made just two top-flight starts all season.

Rodri or Ilkay Gundogan would make way in that situation, leaving Kevin De Bruyne to occupy the other position in the centre of the pitch.

As a result of Oleksandr Zinchenko's one-match ban, Benjamin Mendy is in line to play at left-back, providing that he comes through a late fitness test.

Aymeric Laporte should be available to partner Fernandinho in the centre of defence after overcoming muscle fatigue.
