Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo labels Anfield 'out-of-date' ahead of the club's fixture with Liverpool in the Champions League next month.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has said that he regards Anfield as an 'out-of-date' stadium.

Having witnessed his side record a 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Tuesday night, Cerezo and the Spanish giants will travel to the home of the Merseyside outfit knowing that a draw will be enough to progress through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Although Liverpool have enjoyed countless memorable European nights at their home ground, Cerezo has suggested that it does not compare to the likes of Wanda Metropolitano.

Speaking to AS, Cerezo said: "According to the media, a week ago we were dead and buried and now we are very much alive. They had gone 30 games unbeaten and people were saying they are the best team in the world.

"We are happy with the result but we still have another game to go. But we have rediscovered ourselves and that is the best news. Anfield is a great stadium but it's old. It probably wouldn't pass the UEFA inspection if it had to do it."

Atletico have not squared off against Liverpool in England since the Europa League semi-finals in 2010.
