Everton reportedly want Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira to replace Marco Silva following his sacking on Thursday.
Silva was let go by the Toffees following their 5-2 defeat against Liverpool, their third consecutive league defeat and a result that keeps them rooted in the bottom three.
A number of names have already been linked with the job, including former Everton boss David Moyes, but Sky Sports News reports that the club's current preference is Silva's compatriot Pereira.
The 51-year-old won Shanghai their first ever Chinese Super League title in his first season with the club in 2018 before overseeing a third placed finish in the campaign that just finished.
He is believed to be currently considering a new contract with Shanghai that would see him earn a guaranteed £30m a year and he was recently offered the Chinese national team job.
Pereira, who the report suggests would be interested in speaking to Everton, has also previously worked at Porto, Olympiacos and Fenerbahce.
