Steven Defour comes back into midfield for Burnley's league meeting with Stoke City in one of two changes from last time out, while Mark Hughes makes four alterations.

Steven Defour has handed Burnley a major boost by returning to midfield for this evening's Premier League meeting with Stoke City at Turf Moor.

The Belgium international is one of two new additions from the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur here a few days ago, with Sam Vokes also coming in for just a second league start of 2017.

It is Defour's first start for the Clarets in more than two months, while Ashley Barnes and Scott Arfield drop down to a Burnley bench that also includes Dan Agyei and back-up stopper Nick Pope.

In terms of the visitors, manager Mark Hughes has gone with four changes from the side that slumped to a 2-0 reverse at the hands of champions Leicester City at the weekend.

Marc Muniesa, Geoff Cameron, Charlie Adam and Mame Biram Diouf are all welcomed back into the fold, with Glen Johnson, Glenn Whelan, Ramadan Sobhi and Jonathan Walters making way.

Walters missed out on the trip to Lancashire altogether due to the injury picked up against Leicester, while Peter Crouch is still carrying a slight knock and is among the subs.

Burnley: Heaton, Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward, Boyd, Barton, Hendrick, Defour, Vokes, Gray
Subs: Pope, Barnes, Agyei, Arfield, Tarkowski, Brady, Westwood

Stoke City: Grant, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Muniesa, Diouf, Cameron, Allen, Adam, Pieters, Arnautovic, Berahino
Subs: Given, Whelan, Johnson, Afellay, Imbula, Crouch, Ramadan
