Former president Massimo Moratti says that Inter Milan should attempt an ambitious bid to sign Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

Former president Massimo Moratti has suggested that Inter Milan should consider trying to sign Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

While the Argentina international has enjoyed a legendary career at Camp Nou, the 32-year-old is yet to commit the rest of his playing days to the Catalan giants.

With Barcelona allegedly being required to balance the books, Moratti has claimed that Inter should try to pull out an audacious swoop for the playmaker.

Speaking to Rai Radio 1, Moratti said: "It's by no means an impossible dream. Perhaps it wasn't before this situation, and I think there is an effort on the part of the owners to try and bring him to Inter.

"I'm not sure if this situation will change the objective positively or negatively, but it has disrupted everything. We can't be overly opportunistic because exploiting this situation can rock football, but I think there is a possibility that we see rather strange things at the end of the season."

Barcelona are currently looking to secure a deal for Inter forward Lautaro Martinez.
