Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon has given his take on the allegations against showrunner Joss Whedon.

Earlier this month Charisma Carpenter alleged that Whedon had been "mean and biting" behind the scenes during her time on the show and spinoff series Angel, also claiming that he had made disparaging remarks about her pregnancy.

Most co-stars were quick to come out in support of Carpenter, but Whedon delayed his response as he was undergoing surgery for a bizarre penis and anus injury.

"Out of this I just hope that growth comes, and healing, and then being a better person and better people," said Brendon in a video posted from hospital.

"'Cos I think that's what every day is about. You know what I mean? Not beating somebody up.

"Were there transgressions? Yeah, there were. To me as well, you know what I mean?

"It's like, I had my relationship with Joss as well. And I love him. For me, I took the good, I took the bad. But that's not everybody."

Whedon himself has yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
