Wentworth Miller says that he has no interest in taking part in a proposed sixth season of Prison Break.

Wentworth Miller has categorically ruled out reprising his role as Michael Scofield in a proposed sixth season of Prison Break.

The cult show ran for four seasons and a special between 2005 and 2009, followed by a nine-episode fifth season in 2017 - and recently Miller's co-star Dominic Purcell confirmed that a sixth season is in the works.

Miller has now decided not to return, however, as since the show started he has come out as gay and no longer has an interest in playing straight characters.

In a post on Instagram, he told followers: "I'm out. Of PB. Officially.

"Not bec of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told).

"So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry.

"If you're hot and bothered bec you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one... That's your work."

In the light of Miller's comments it is now unclear whether the sixth season will be able to go ahead.
