Coronation Street veteran Sue Nicholls has admitted that she would like to see her character Audrey Roberts find love again in future.
Audrey first appeared in the soap in 1979 - and in 1985 married corner shop owner Alf Roberts, staying with him until his sudden death in 1999.
Since then Audrey has had dalliances with butcher Fred Elliott and conman Lewis Archer, both of whom also died suddenly, but now Nicholls thinks that the time is right for her to find a new man.
"Audrey came in as a flirty piece, who was anybody's for a G&T," she told the Daily Star. "And I'm glad to say, despite what you think, she hasn't changed.
"She's had the most wonderful life. Starting with marrying the wonderful Alfie, who was the love of her life.
"She also flirted happily with Fred the butcher, Mel Hutchwright - the rather devious and wonderful poet, so-called - and not forgetting the wonderful Lewis.
"So I'm hoping that, soon, that will carry on. So keep watching. I'm keeping my fingers crossed there's more to come."
Away from the soap, Nicholls has been dealing with the tragic death of husband and former Corrie castmate Mark Eden.
