Coronation Street, Brookside actor Alan Igbon dies, aged 68

Soap star Alan Igbon dies "peacefully" at the age of 68, his niece confirms.

Soap star Alan Igbon "passed away peacefully" at the age of 68 last month, his niece has announced.

The actor was known for playing Jason Grimshaw's estranged father Tony Stewart on Coronation Street in 2003 and also had roles in Brookside, Doctors and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, as well as films such as Scum and Babylon.

In a post on Facebook, Igbon's niece Lee-Ann wrote: "Early December 2020 my mums brother Alan Igbon my uncle passed away peaceful.

"He is well known for being an actor in Boys from the black stuff, Scum, GBH, Coronation st, Brookside and many more. R.i.e.p xxx."

The cause of Igbon's death has not been disclosed.
