Result: Uktamjon Rahmonov progresses against Anderson Rojas Mina

Uzbekistan's Uktamjon Rahmonov defeats Ecuador's Anderson Rojas Mina by six points in the Olympic light-welterweight competition.

Uzbekistan's Uktamjon Rahmonov has defeated Ecuador's Anderson Rojas Mina courtesy of a 16-10 verdict.

Rahmonov produced the better quality at the start of the first round, but Rojas replied with a nice right before delivering another downstairs to the body.

The Uzbek was docked two points in the second round for a low blow, which forced him to foray forward to make up the deduction.

Both men were finding the target as the fight unfolded, but it was Rahmonov who led by two as they entered the final three minutes.

Rojas took the impetus in the early part of the stanza and threw Rahmonov off balance with a tremendous right hook.

However, the Ecuadorian's work became more ragged as the fight slipped away from him

The best shot of the bout came from the left glove of the Uzbek, who exploited the gap in Rojas's defence to great effect and bringing about a standing count.
