Former England forward Alan Shearer has claimed that "the big boys" will not fear Russia at the 2018 World Cup, despite the tournament hosts thumping Saudi Arabia 5-0 on Thursday.
Denis Cheryshev was the star of the show for Russia as the Villarreal winger came off the bench to score twice for a team that will also take on Uruguay and Egypt in Group A.
Shearer, however, has said that the result said more about "hopeless" Saudi Arabia than Russia, who have never been past the group stage of a World Cup.
"It has been a really positive night for Russia who have done what they had to do, but I don't think the big boys will be too worried by that performance," Shearer told BBC Sport.
"Saudi Arabia were hopeless and they didn't have one effort on target."
Russia's second group match is against Egypt on Tuesday night.
