Former Manchester City and Leeds United player Alf-Inge Haaland says that he would be happy to see son Erling Braut Haaland represent Manchester United.

Alf-Inge Haaland has claimed that it 'would be nice' if son Erling Braut Haaland represents Manchester United in the future.

Having established himself as one of European football's top prospects at Red Bull Salzburg, the young striker is being linked with several big clubs.

Manchester United - partly due to the connection with Norwegian compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - are one of the teams who are said to hold an interest.

Despite Alf-Inge having represented Manchester City and Leeds United during his playing days, the former defender has insisted that he would be happy to see Erling Braut make the switch to Old Trafford.

The 46-year-old told TV2: "It would be nice. It is important to distinguish between being a supporter and a job. So I have a very relaxed relationship with that. It's a little different when it's serious.

"Yes, I think most players dream of being in the Premier League at one time or another. It's the league that gets the most attention around, and it has very good quality teams. There is no doubt the Premier League is attractive to him."

Erling Braut still has just under four years left on his contract at Salzburg.
