Pape Sarr made the breakthrough in the 49th minute of the match before an own goal from Lisandro Martinez secured all the points for Ange Postecoglou's side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Man United head coach Erik ten Hag named an unchanged side from the clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but there were two changes for Spurs following their draw at Brentford, with Pedro Porro and Sarr replacing Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp in the side.

Vicario then denied Marcus Rashford from close range in the 13th minute, with Man United looking dangerous on the counter-attack, but Tottenham were having their moments in the final third.
A wonderful cross from Fernandes set up an excellent chance for Rashford in the 24th minute, but the attacker headed over from close range, and the offside flag was raised shortly after.
Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana was called into action to keep out a low strike from Kulusevski in the 25th minute after smart work from Son, who had driven past Varane in a wide position.
Man United wanted a penalty for a Cristian Romero handball in the 26th minute, with the defender blocking a shot from Garnacho, but the play was allowed to continue following a VAR check.

Onana made a smart save to deny Sarr in the 30th minute, before Fernandes missed an unbelievable chance down the other end in the 36th minute, somehow heading a Luke Shaw cross over from close range after making a brilliant run into a dangerous position.
Spurs then hit the woodwork twice in quick succession late in the first period, with Porro rattling one against the crossbar from outside the box before a delivery from Sarr deflected off Shaw and onto the Man United post.
Onana was again called into action to keep out a drive from Kulusevski in the 44th minute, before the Man United goalkeeper did well to claim a header from Romero, with the two teams level at the interval.
Spurs took the lead early in the second period, with Sarr firing into the back of the net from close range after a cross from Kulusevski had been deflected into his path by Martinez.
Antony struck the inside of the post as Man United looked to reply, before Onana kept out a strike from Destiny Udogie during an incredibly open period of the match.

Spurs wanted a penalty in the 54th minute when Martinez stepped across Romero inside the box, but the referee was not interested, and VAR agreed with the on-field decision.
Tottenham goalkeeper Vicario made a brilliant save to keep out a Casemiro header in the 56th minute, before Yves Bissouma swept one over the crossbar down the other end.
