Atletico Madrid are reportedly pushing for the Champions League last 16 to be redrawn after an error saw Manchester United omitted from the possible opponents for their tie.

Monday's draw in Nyon was far from plain-sailing as Man United were incorrectly included in the pot to face Villarreal, despite having been in the same group as them.

UEFA ambassador Andrey Arshavin proceeded to select Man United to face the Spanish outfit, highlighting the error and forcing him to draw again, when Manchester City were then pulled out of the hat.

However, Man United's ball was then not put back into the bowl for the next tie, which saw Atletico drawn against Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils were eventually paired with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, setting up the possibility of a Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi showdown, but the earlier error could see the entire draw redone.

The first tie - Benfica vs. Real Madrid - was drawn before the mistake was made, and Los Blancos have reportedly requested that any redraw would not include their game as it was unaffected by the error.

Other ties from the initial draw include Liverpool facing Red Bull Salzburg, Chelsea taking on Lille, Inter Milan playing Ajax and Sporting Lisbon vs. Juventus.
