Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Brentford

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford.

Seeking their first Premier League win at the Gtech Community Stadium at the third attempt, Liverpool are back in action against Brentford on Saturday lunchtime.

Jurgen Klopp's outfit retained their two-point lead atop the pile with a 3-1 win over Burnley last weekend, as Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz all made the net bulge.

Manchester City still have a game in hand over the Merseyside giants, though, and their trip to Brentford's turf last season ended in a forgettable 3-1 defeat.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the trip to Brentford, who defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 last time out.

Alisson Becker

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Alisson Becker was one of two Liverpool players to miss the win over Burnley due to a bout of flu, and while he has recovered from his infection, he is now said to have sustained a hamstring injury and will therefore miss Saturday's game.

Joe Gomez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Brentford)

Similarly, Joe Gomez has been put through his paces since being laid low by illness, and the versatile Englishman is expected to be at Klopp's disposal for Saturday's fixture.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 25 (vs. Chelsea)

Trent Alexander-Arnold had to come off at half time in the win over Burnley after suffering a similar knee injury to the one he picked up against Arsenal in January, and there are now concerns that he could be sidelined until after the EFL Cup final later this month.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Following a nine-month wait to make his comeback from a hip injury, Thiago Alcantara damaged a muscle in his short time on the field against Arsenal on February 4. Klopp has affirmed that the Spaniard's latest issue is not a major one, but there is no timeframe on his recovery at present.

Ben Doak

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Talented teenage winger Ben Doak is on the road to rehabilitation after suffering a serious knee injury in Under-21s action last year, and he is still working his way back to full fitness.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Dominik Szoboszlai was a casualty before the loss to Arsenal with a hamstring injury, and the Hungary international is yet to resume team training, meaning that a comeback this weekend is likely beyond the realm of possibility.

Conor Bradley

Status: Minor doubt
Reason for absence: Personal
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Brentford)

Conor Bradley has been granted compassionate leave from Liverpool's last two games due to the death of his father, but the right-back has been seen in training and will likely be involved this weekend.

Mohamed Salah

Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Brentford)

On Tuesday afternoon, Liverpool shared photos of Mohamed Salah with the ball at his feet in team training as he closes in on a return from a muscle injury, and Klopp has confirmed that the attacker is "in contention" to play at Brentford.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Joel Matip's season came to an end when he suffered an ACL injury against Fulham in December, but Klopp is hopeful that Liverpool will hand a new deal to the Cameroonian, whose current terms run out in June.

Stefan Bajcetic

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Stefan Bajcetic is currently dealing with a calf injury relating to his growth, and there is still no indication when the Spanish youngster might take to the field again.
