Chelsea are set to sign Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo from Dinamo Zagreb, the Croatian club's manager confirms.

Chelsea are poised to sign Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo from Dinamo Zagreb, the Croatian club's manager has confirmed.

The 33-year-old was part of the squad that won Euro 2016 this summer but did not play a game, acting as a deputy to Rui Patricio instead.

Zagreb's manager Zlatko Kranjcar was asked on Sunday whether this week's Champions League playoff second leg against Red Bull Salzburg will be Eduardo's last game for the club, and he said: "Yes, I think so. Eduardo has been given an amazing opportunity to leave for a big club like Chelsea.

"When he arrived we gained security in our team, and in my time in the club he has defended his goal very well. But the situation is that he is leaving. May he have all the good luck in a big club."

Chelsea already have two senior goalkeepers, Thibaut Coutois and Asmir Begovic, competing for a first-team place, but Begovic has been the subject of reported interest from other clubs, including Everton.
